Discipline: Social Policy & Law
Research Interests: I look at the way policy makers and legislators conceptualise prostitution as a form of violence against women. I'm particularly interested in ideologies and philosophies such as liberalism, neo-liberalism, feminism, structuralism and Marxism. I am also interested in the way societies subjugate and dominate certain groups and how discourses facilitate this. I take an overtly political stance in my work, as it is something I am very passionate about.
If you were a box of cereal what would you be and way: Probably a box of Co-Operative own brand cornflakes. Not very fancy, but left-wing and well meaning. Also a little tasteless.
What did you want to be when you grew up: All sorts of things. An orchestral conductor, a doctor, a monkey. When I was around 8 I made a barristers wig out of toilet roll tubes for a fancy dress party. 15 years later I was called to the Bar. And approximately 3 years after that I'd given up on any law related shenanigans! Moral of the story: don't trust the wisdom of your infant self.
Where are you right now: Where I always am - in the office.
Tell us something about another staff writer: I introduced Ana to her partner and they are now gloriously happy. I therefore believe I am owed their first born child.
