It Ain’t Necessarily So is happy to announce an open call for article submissions concerning marriage equality.

Deadline: May 10th - Word limit: Approximately 1500 words

The Republic of Ireland is holding a referendum on May 22nd regarding marriage equality. The referendum will amend the Irish constitution to state that “marriage may be contracted in accordance with law by two persons without distinction as to their sex.” Should the referendum pass, it will be the first time in the world that a country has introduced marriage equality by popular vote.

To mark the occasion, IANS will be publishing a serious of individual posts concerning marriage equality, and LGBT+ issues in general, leading up to the referendum. We are looking for some lovely writers and to contribute individual posts around the issue.

If you’re interested in writing something, or want to discuss some ideas that you might have, please email Chris Crockford at

Articles may be on any issue of your choosing, once it relates to LGBT+ issues, and is supported by an academic context.
